In the community

Møllerns hus (The Miller’s house)

The Miller’s House is a gift-, interior-, and clothing shop including a café. You will find the Miller’s House located in Strømsfoss at the municipality of Aremark. Once you have stepped through the doors here, you will want to stay long.

Haldenvassdragets kanalmuseum (Halden Watercourse canal museum)

You find Halden Watercourse Canal Museum at Ørje. The museum conveys the history and culture of forestry, timber floating, and three processing. Centrally stands the canal builder Engebret Soot (1786-1859) and his lifework: Norway’s first locks construction from 1849.

Allsang på grensen (Singalong at the border)

Throughout the summer, there is a TV-recording of Allsang på Grensen (translates to Singalong at the Border), at Fredriksten Fortress in Halden. This is a nice family program where you can see and hear known and loved artists in idyllic surroundings.

Dalslands Canal

Dalslands Canal is a pearl ribbon of small and large lakes. The total length of the lake system is ca. 250 Km. The lake system has 31 canal locks divided on 17 lock stations. The vertical drop is 66 meters. Many consider Dalslands canal as the most beautiful water road in Europe.

Fredriksten fortress

Fredriksten Fortress is a national boarder guard and regional cultural arena. Some of the most dramatic and bloodiest events in Norwegian war history took place here. Most notably is the fall of the Swedish King Karl XIIs in 1718.

Summer Party

The third Saturday in July there is a summer party at Stora Lee Camping with treasure hunt, children games, and milk pail throwing. In the evening, there is dancing to live music.

Offroad cycling

The terrain surrounding Stora Lee Camping is hilly with many exciting and challenging trails and roads.

Cycling

Stora Lee Camping is a nice starting point for cycling on gravel roads or asphalt roads. You can find a web of forest car roads, where you can go for short or long trips to exercise or just to enjoy the scenery.

Hiking in the forest

At Stora Lee Camping, there is a lovely terrain inviting you for trips in the forest whether you prefer to walk or cycle. The forest fills up with berries in the summer and with mushrooms in the autumn.

Canoe or Kayak Paddling

Stora Lee is a fantastic lake for paddling by canoe or kayak. Here you can embark on long and short expeditions. The lake is about 80 km long with beautiful nature, small islands, and a rich wildlife.

Pike fishing

Stora Lee is a clear water lake with excellent pike and perch fishing. Pikes of one meter and more are not uncommon

Bathing

At Stora Lee Camping we have three bathing spots with sand beaches. The bathing spots have a swim raft, water slide and a plunge board.

Activity Areas

Play area Stora Lee Camping has a large facilitated playing area with a court to play ball, beach volleyball, a trampoline and a children’s playground. We also have a jumping pillow which is extremely popular amongst children of all ages. Never a dull day at Stora Lee Camping!
